"Carlo
Rizzarda"
Museum
of
Modern
Art is a
museum
of
decorative
arts
with a
unique
collection
of early
20th
century
wrought
ironwork.
The
museum
was
inaugurated
in 1938
and
contains
both and
extensive
collection
of works
acquired
by
Rizzarda
to
furnish
his
house in
Milan as
well as
a
collection
of
objects
in
wrought
iron
that
Rizzarda
himself
completed
between
1910-1930. |

collection
of
paintings,
furniture
and
objects
of
decorative
arts
includes
works by
Casorati,
Carra',Marussig,
Semeghini,
Wildt
and
Scarpa,
whereas
the
collection
of over
400
pieces
in
forged
iron,
amongst
which
balustrades,
lamps,
gates
and
decorative
elements,
documents
the
gamut of
posibilities
within
the art
of
wrought
iron
work. |

This museum is
unique, no where in
the world will you
find a vast
collection of
wrought iron work in
one place. Carlo
Rizzarda could
create anything out
of iron. When you
see some of his
work, there's only
one question that
wonders your mind;
How did he do that?
From one single
piece of iron, he
would make a branch
of iron flowers,
leaves and roses. |

Palazzo Bovio-Cumano
is home to a unique
museum of wrought
iron containing
works by the master
craftsman Carlo
Rizzarda (Feltre
1883 – Milan 1931),
a pupil of
Alessandro
Mazzucotelli. The
Gallery contains a
modern art
collection of
paintings,
sculptures and
ceramics by 19th and
20th century artists
including: Felice
Casorati, Egon
Schiele, Giovanni
Fattori, Telemaco
Signorini, Gaetano
Previati, Carlo
Carrà, Aldolfo Wildt,
Francesco Messina
and Tancredi. A
major donation made
in 2006 by the
journalist and art
critic Liana
Bortolon added works
by artists including
Pablo Picasso, Marc
Chagall, Massimo
Campigli, Ennio
Morlotti, Bruno
Cassinari, Afro,
Gino Severini, Aligi
Sassu and Mario
Sironi. |
