These are just some of the most notable people involved with the history of Feltre. We would have loved to dedicate an entire website for each and every one of them because their history goes far beyond.

 

Vittorino da Feltre

(1378 - 1446) was an Italian humanist and teacher, born in Feltre (province of Belluno). His real name was Vittorino Ramboldini.

 

Panfilo Castaldi

(c. 1398 – c. 1490;) was an Italian printer working in Milan. Born at Feltre, Castaldi is commemorated by a statue there as the inventor of moveable type.

 
 

Morto da Feltre was an Italian painter of the Venetian school who worked at the close of the 15th century and beginning of the 16th.

 

Andrea Palladio (November 30, 1508 – August 19, 1580), was an Italian architect, widely considered the most influential person in the history of Western architecture.

 
 

Pietro Marescalchi (1522-1589) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance, active near his hometown of Feltre in the Veneto. He is also referred to as Pietro de' Mariscalchi. He is described as a more provincial reflection of the Mannerist style of Jacopo Bassano

 

Giuseppe Segusini (15 luglio 1801 – 29 marzo 1876) Was an architect and Italian Urbanist. He dedicated his work to the sacred art, expanding and re-constructing churches and piazzas. He is responsible of the actual architecture of the main piazza in Feltre.

 
 

Carlo Rizzarda (1883-1931) The collection of paintings, furniture and objects of decorative arts includes works by Casorati, Carra',Marussig, Semeghini, Wildt and Scarpa, whereas the collection of over 400 pieces in forged iron, amongst which balustrades, lamps, gates and decorative elements, documents the gamut of posibilities within the art of wrought iron work.

 

Gian Antonio Selva (1751 – 1819) was an Italian architect and important representative of the neoclassicismo. Worked mostly in Venice, travelled to Rome, London and considered the architect of the great "Fenice" theatre.
