The Oria Gate,
earlier known as the
Aurea Gate, is the
best preserved
section of the
medieval defenses.
Despite having been
lowered in the 19th
century, the main
section includes
three narrow arches.
The two external
arches were equipped
with heavy doors,
while that in the
middle had a
portcullis. Outside,
until 1502, there
was a drawbridge
over a ditch. |
